Celine Dion's Home Invaded by Intruder Who Wanted a Bath

Celine Dion's Home Invaded by Intruder Who Wanted a Bath

Celine Dion can now claim her home attracts the most domestic of criminals. The Canadian singing sensation was the victim of a bizarre breaking-and-entering by a man was caught about to take a warm bath in her Quebec mansion on Monday afternoon.

According to the Montreal suburb's police department, Dion, 43, husband René Angelil and their three children were not home at the time of the burglary. The burglar, Daniel Bedard, allegedly tried to open a door. But when he was unsuccessful, he stole keys and a garage-door opener out of one of Angelil's parked (and unlocked) cars and used them to break into the house. He apparently had no qualms about making himself comfortable once he got inside.

"He opened the water faucets, was pouring a nice warmish bath (and) he even managed to eat some pastry that was in the fridge," police spokesman Franco Di Genova said of Bedard.

Bedard has been charged with breaking-and-entering, auto theft and causing property damage. He tripped the alarm, so it was only a matter of time (just enough to nosh on baked treats but not enough to take the bath) before the Laval city police arrived to arrest him.

"The suspect was coming down the big staircase and was asking: 'Hey, guys what are you doing here?,'" Di Genova said. "So the officers replied: 'What are you doing here?' and they proceeded to put him under arrest."
