Hero's Journey (monomyth): Harry Potter and Star Wars

Hero's Journey is the model on which most successful stories and Hollywood blockbusters at the time. In fact, all Hollywood movies we have deconstructed are based on this model.

The understanding of this modelis a priority for story or screenwriters.

The Hero's Journey:

a) tests, the unconscious expectations the audience has regarding what a story it has to, and how they should be told to take advantage.

b) gives the writer more structural elements than simply three or four acts, plot points, mid, and so on.

c) there is a tangible process for building and releasing dissonance (establishing and achieving catharsis).

d) It provides a universal model on which the structuralYou can superimpose your situational story.

Harry Potter and Star Wars

Harry Potter and Star Wars stories are good examples of the applicability of the hero's journey (monomyth)

Both are orphans who live with distant relatives (foster parents or uncle).

Both wizards magical encounter as mentors (or Ben Kenobi Hagrid).

Both have unique abilities (a small pilot and a great Quidditch player)
