South Africa sports ministry asks for report in cricket irregular ...

Johannesberg, June 16 (ANI): Aghast over reports of irregular allocation of bonuses to some staff members of Cricket South Africa (CSA), sports authorities are seeking an investigation report.

South Africa's Minister of Sport and Recreation, Fikili Mbalula has directed the CSA to convene an urgent meeting and file a detailed investigation report.

Tubby Reddy, Chief Executive Officer of South Africa's controlling sports body (SASCOC) has fully endorsed the ministry's decision regarding the matter, Sports24 reports.

Reddy confirmed that SASCOC had met with officials from CSA in Johannesburg in wake of reports alleging a fresh bonus scandal.

Various reports had alleged CSA chief executive Gerald Majola, chief financial officer Nassei Appiah and brand communications manager Kass Naidoo were awarded grossly higher bonuses.

In a statement, CSA denied allegations of impropriety and said the bonuses were discussed during a meeting on April 15 when annual increases, salary adjustments and annual bonus payments were decided on. (ANI)
