Traditional Kinds Of Mexican Food ? Easy Guide to Food And Drinks

Traditional Kinds Of Mexican Food

Whats the first thing that comes into your thoughts when you think about Mexican food? Enchiladas? Tacos? Quesadillas? Takis Chips?Whatever dish it is its likely something hot, spicy and full of flavor. Today Mexican food is becoming so much part of our lives that it is hard to say what is a standard Mexican recipe and what is the modern version.

An essential part of many Mexican dishes, both normal and modern, is the tortilla. These flat round staples are made of maize flour and the home made versions are definitely the best and tastiest. As well as the yellow/white tortillas typically seen there's also a blue variety.

Mexican food makes a superb idea for a finger food smorgasboard for a party, big day or event. Make your own tortilla chips by cutting plain tortillas into triangles and deep frying for a couple of minutes then draining on paper towels. Serve these with dips such as salsa, guacamole and sour cream. You may make a cilantro and lime dip by mixing fresh chopped cilantro with lime juice, mayo, garlic, olive oil, a little white wine vinegar and a splash of hot sauce. Another smorgasboard idea is quesadillas with varied fillings including chicken, chorizo, chopped veg or simply softened cheese.

For drinks, you dont need to be restricted to Margaritas and Tequila. Freshly made fruit waters are a preferred drink in Mexico and you can make your own from melons like cantaloupe and water melon or maybe fresh strawberries.

You may not instantly think about desserts when you think of Mexican food, but there are lots of Mexican puddings that may round off your home-cooked Mexican meal fantastically and attract many compliments on your cooking. How about rich caramel crepes with cream or a Margarita cheesecake? This one is for adults only as it's got a substantial Tequila and liqueur content. Delicious.
