In a site dubbed ?Canada? in the Auschwitz concentration camp, large barracks and sheds held the confiscated possessions of the prisoners that were held captive. Out of the many camp sites in Auschwitz to be imprisoned in, the ?Canada? was a luxury. Working here meant well covered shelters and less things to fear for. But working here also meant eleven hours of incessant anguish and the torture of sorting through a deceased relative's jewelry or a clothing article and stay reminded that they were not lucky enough to make it through. The people there had no lives. They were simply marked by a number. Animals were treated far better and kinder. The meals were always rotten and sometimes, the prisoners used to go without food for days. They were called for roll calls at ungodly hours with the sick and pitiful ones caving to death while standing. Their mattresses were wooden boards; clothes were thin striped rubbish that did nothing to help them with the cold; and their opponents were vermin and insects during meals.

When American soldiers came to rescue what was left of the millions and children, they broke down and cried. Even to this date, the survivors wear the numbers that was tattooed on to treat them as a piece of meat with horrific remembrance.

The Jewish holocaust by the Nazis is one of the most devastating and pathetic crimes perpetrators on the human society and brought us status down to being lesser than the animals. While the Germans were wiping out Jewish populations by millions, the rest of the world was just waiting. What for? The perfect time? There are many examples of genocides alike, across the world from the beginning of time. The word holocaust literally meant ?the burnt offering?. Videos and pictures from Auschwitz on Charter Internet contain the remnants of the victims that were gassed and burnt.

While holocaust literally meant burnt offering, it is the mass genocide of Jews, Polish, homosexuals and disabled alike. The word genocide denotes the action of deliberate or systematic destruction of a whole or part of racial, ethnic, national and religious groups. The correct definition of genocide is still under dispute. Historians argue that killing in mass and wiping out a group of sorts may not always be because of racial, ethnic or religious reasons. Parts of the same racial or ethnic group may be left alive due to other factors like politics.

The younger generation of the twenty-first century may find it hard to believe that an unimaginable crime to the extent of the Holocaust actually happened. Unfortunately it did and there's plenty of proof to it. As I wrote before, survivors from the concentration camps still have their tattoos that indicate that yes, they were mainly Jew and yes, they were numbered and shut in camps. There are plenty of diaries and radio shows reciting the tales of revulsion from the survivors of the Holocaust. It's really, really hard to believe that the Holocaust did not happen when concentration camps like Auschwitz as a memorial to those who died from the Holocaust remain standing mockingly.

Anti-Semitism was close to being considered a religion during the darker days of the World War II. It's pitiful to note that there a still traces of people against Jews in the modern day world. Many religious preachers are now openly denying that the Holocaust ever happened. And even if it did, the numbers of the deceased were hugely exaggerated. The feeling of animosity towards fellow human beings that still exists is the primary cause of genocide. While, there are International laws preventing the act of genocide enforced by the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (CPPCG), chances are that people are still being killed in masses and go unheard by the rest of the world.
