The Denver Broncos and Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI) today announced a new event for Broncos fans to combine their love of running with their passion for the orange and blue at the Broncos Back to Football Run, featuring a 5K, 10K, Fans on the Field Stadium Run and Broncos PLAY 60 Fun Run for kids.
The 2013 race is set to take place at Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday, Sept. 7, and will benefit the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). Fans who previously participated in NSCD?s Fans on the Field event are encouraged to join this new event.
Debuting the weekend following the Broncos home opener against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, Sept. 5, the Broncos Back to Football Run invites fans to share in the glory of the gridiron while supporting a healthy and active lifestyle. Participants will have the unprecedented opportunity to finish their race at the 50-yard line at Sports Authority Field at Mile High, the home of their beloved Denver Broncos.
?Denver is a proud football city that also has a vibrant and active running community, making this event a perfect way to kick off the 2013 season and bring the fans together,? said Dennis Moore, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Denver Broncos. ?We?re proud to be part of a series of races that also supports the league?s commitment to healthy families and our PLAY 60 initiative to combat childhood obesity.?
A post-race tailgate party with live entertainment and a beer garden will take place after the race and all participants will receive an official race shirt.
The NFL Back to the Football Run Series features 5K and 10K races in partnership with the NFL and several of its member clubs. More than a dozen clubs are expected to hold races in their respective cities in 2013. A majority of the running events will take place in conjunction with the opening weekend of the NFL season and many will include Fan Fests, autograph opportunities and NFL skill challenges.
?The start of football season in Denver is an exciting time and we invite families and fans of all ages to enjoy a fun day of celebration, while also making the positive choice to get moving and have a healthy lifestyle,? said Jamie Monroe, Event Director for Competitor Group. ?We?re thrilled to see the NFL Back to Football Run Series grow and be embraced by more teams around the country as running continues to evolve and reach new participants.?
NSCD is one of the largest outdoor therapeutic recreation agencies in the world. NSCD is based locally in Colorado and serves over 3,000 children and adults with disabilities each year, who are able to participate in year-round adaptive sports and recreational adventures through the organization.
The Broncos Back to Football Run will include a Fans on the Field Stadium Run, which will take participants on a running tour of rarely seen areas of Sports Authority Field at Mile High. This unique run will be a non-timed, non-competitive race option.
?We are excited about our new partnership with the Denver Broncos and Competitor Group,? said Becky Zimmermann, president and CEO of the NSCD. ?Together we will make this race a great event for the Denver community for years to come.?
The ?Run for NSCD? fundraising campaign is open to all race participants and will earn runners special Bronco football incentives. For more information, visit NFLRunSeries.com/Broncos/Charity.
