Managing Communications Director for Money in Politics - Bridgestar

The Proteus Fund is seeking a full-time Managing Communications Director to work with the Senior Program Officer of the Piper Fund on the development of the new Money in Politics Communications Collaborative. The Piper Fund is our grant-making initiative designed to build and mobilize a powerful movement to address the corrosive influence of corporate and special interest political influence on our political system. The Piper Fund is launching a new communications collaborative to strengthen the strategic communications capacity of the sector and emerging broader movement through the development of shared media and messaging tools. Since 1997, the Piper Fund has partnered with individual donors and foundations to support innovative efforts to reduce corporate influence and reform the way political campaigns are funded, with grants in 2012 of more than $2.5 million.

We seek a Managing Communications Director who initially will serve as a consultant to the Piper Fund and ultimately become an employee of the communications firm that will house the infrastructure for the initiative. The Director will maintain the communication infrastructure and tools; manage additional staff; and serve as the primary point of contact. Our preference is for the Director to be based in or move to the Washington DC region, although strong candidates based in other parts of the country will be considered.
