Business Travel during the Holidays = OMG #VGPHolidayTravel ...

I can?t even count the number of times during the holidays that I say OMG (either out loud or to myself) while traveling on business. Travel can be no fun on an average day, add holiday travelers to the mix and you never know what you?ll get!

The holiday travel season starts just before Thanksgiving and runs through the New Years week. It?s more than a month of headaches for the business traveler.

After Thanksgiving I flew out to LA for a few days before heading to S.E. Asia. I rented a car from National Car Rental (where I have Executive Elite Status) and can pick any car I want (that?s a cool perk.) I had 2 suitcases and wheeled them to the back of one of the cars. While I was trying to find my GPS and get the suitcases in the car, someone actually got into the car, started the engine and drove off! OMG. I thought maybe it was someone who worked there, but oh, no, it was a guy who drove the car to the front to load in his family. WTF! He stole my car ? well, not ?my? car, but the car I had picked out.

Holiday travel also means hoards of screaming children. I?m leaning towards flying airlines that ban children ? or at least have ?no kids? sections during the holidays. I?d actually pay more to sit away from them. Nothing worse than trying to concentrate on a power point presentation for the next day and listening to a kid scream. Does wonders for the concentration.

So, what?s your experience been with business travel during the holidays? Are you traveling this holiday season for fun or for work?
