Boeing will be conducting low altitude tests of a 777-300ER over parts of Washington state this week, flying as low as 600 feet.
The flights are to test upgraded components to the Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System. Boeing said the terrain awareness warning system is designed to help pilots avoid inadvertent contact with the terrain and provide awareness of wind shear threats.
The testing will be done Tuesday through Thursday, between 600 and 700 feet, above the Strait of Juan de Fuca and areas of Eastern Washington, but there will also be testing around Paine Field in Everett.
